Services
Regional Community Service Center (RCSC)
RCSC supports people that live with their families and in group homes by providing specialized dental, behavioral, psychiatric and other clinical services. Click here for more information.
Admissions
Admissions are through the Community Services Board review process. All admissions are voluntary.
Living Arrangements
Living arrangements are primarily cottages or dormitory-style buildings as near homelike as possible.
Individually Planned Program
An active program, involving professionals in education, self-help, and habilitation, is individually planned following the Interdisciplinary Team's assessment of a resident's strengths and weaknesses within 30 days of admission.
Self-Help Training
Qualified residential services staff provide training in the areas of bathing, feeding, dressing, toileting, grooming, basic hygiene and social skills.
Educational Services
Residents attend habilitation and training classes staffed by certified teachers and trained aides. Find out more about Special Education by reading the Special Education Procedural Safeguards.
Behavioral Training
Trained psychologists and psychiatrists provide assessment, programs to address behavioral problems, counseling, and support services.
Work Training
Residents may participate in work activity programs or community-based workshops to promote work habits and skills.
Special Needs
Special programs are available for sight and hearing impaired residents, as well as those with multi-handicaps.
Therapy Programs
SWVTC has physical and occupational therapy programs staffed by licensed physical and occupational therapy professionals. Specialized training in communication and music is provided by certified therapists.
Parent Training
An integral goal of SWVTC is the return of residents to the community. To prepare for this, parents and guardians are encouraged to become involved in training programs. Technical assistance for parents, guardians, and other care-givers is available.
Program Oversight
To assure services are responsive to resident needs, programs are periodically reviewed by qualified professionals. Programs addressing behavioral problems are approved and monitored by the Behavior Management and Human Rights Committees.
Advocacy Program
A full-time Resident Advocate safeguards the rights of residents.
Respite Services
Respite services are available.
Volunteers
Active volunteer groups from the surrounding community extend and enrich SWVTC's services. They provide birthday parties, holiday activities, and community activities for the residents.
